Jhirna has emerged Jim Corbett National Park's one of the most popular jeep safari zones. You can get special jeep safaris for the area from the Corbett Safari Booking facility. It is one of the most eye catching zones in the National Park that is aproximately 16 kms away from Ramnagar.
Tourists wanting to visit this area must obtain a permit issued by the National Park Authority. Without this you cannot enter the zone. In order to visit this area it is mandatory for you to stay at the rest house before the safari to this zone is scheduled.
Jeep safari to the Jhirna zone begins at the Dhela gate which is located about 20 kms away from the Corbett Wild Retreat. This tourist zone is located in the southern part of the Corbett National Park.
Safari to this area is open all year long. The topography which consists of secondary forests that is interspersed with deciduous forests and open grasslands makes it ideal for you to get a good visibility of the wild animals. You also have special camps set up by the Corbett National Park that allows you to watch these animals in their natural habitat. There are several stream beds and cliff edges in the zone. This is good news for bird watchers as it attracts several species of birds.
Adjacent to this zone are several; gorges in the Shiwalik landscape. These hills consist of large patches of bamboo. The zone itself and the areas surrounding it make this the perfect habitat for leopards, deer, tigers etc. Interesting mammals like the sloth bear can also be found in this area.
Alcohol and non vegetarian food is prohibited in the area. You must also remember to carry a disposable carry bag to store any waste material like glass bottles, foils, plastic items, tin cans etc. This is an attempt to ensure that the climes of the National Park are kept intact and that the animals are safe.
The safari timings change as per the season and when you book one of our packages, we will make sure that it is scheduled as per the regulations of the national park.
